THE GUEST ROOM
is pleased to announce its new exhibition featuring works by Rozbeh Asmani and Tom Fecht. Both artists invite for a reflection of nature as an open system of poetic signs, where color, light and form are governed by the principles of chance, often blurring the lines between the organic and the constructed, beauty and the proprietary. Thus, this exhibition delves into the tension between representation and abstraction.

The never repeating chaos of waves in Fecht’s nocturnal seascapes Eclipse and the thousands of dice in his most recent series Death of A Croupier evokes the omnipresence of chance in nature but also to the aesthetic potential that opens up in an artistic approach to chance by embracing serendipity and the infinite options of play. Fecht’s luminous Luziferine series – where light, waves and bioluminescence transform microscopic organic forms into powerful ephemeral abstractions – meet Asmani’s provocative Colourmarks. His exploration of protected colors challenge the colonial minded claim for ownership of nature’s corporeal elements, poetically questioning the industrial homogenization of nature’s ephemeral diversity by claiming significant parts of the color spectrum as trademarked intellectual property. Through his photogravures, he transforms plants and natural sources like water into objects that reflect both, the aesthetic and economic potential of their beauty, including the legal claims of control and intellectual property attached to them.

THE BEAUTY OF CHANCE
invites the visitor to reflect on the evolving relationship between the physical and the conceptual, exploring our understanding of nature’s invisible complexities and intangible aspects.

For the Berlin Gallery Weekend, both artists have the chance to present their signature series Colourmarks and Eclipse in the public realm by posting random combinations of 22 individual works on 50 Litfass advertising columns in the streets of Berlin. These installations will be visible from 30 April until 29 Mai in Berlin-Kreuzberg and selected city locations, sponsored by Nordplakat e.K. and Ilg Außenwerbung GmbH.

The new exhibition will be accompanied by the book-launch of caspar.reloaded – Art City Ads. The Advertising Column as a Mass Media. Edited by Rozbeh Asmani and published by ARTISTs PRESS, the new publication examines how contemporary urban art and advertising intersect. From 2020 to 2024, Asmani’s students at the Department of New Media and Applied Graphics in Fine Arts at the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Institute in Greifswald had the opportunity to present their artistic ideas on billboards and Litfass columns. The bilingual publication investigates the conflict between commercial reality, artistic engagement and aesthetic transformation in the public realm. (English/German edition, 96 pages, 130 photographs 22.5 x 11.5 cm. ISBN 9678-3-949990-03-8, € 15)                      artistspress.eu/just-published/

Our series of Guest Installations
will be continued. Starting with Stan Taft (New York) in 2024, ARTISTs PRESS invited the Cologne-based artist Maja Majer-Wallat with Balance & System a kinetic installation of plant-artifacts, and Arik Levy (St. Paul de Vence) with a signature work from his Fixing Nature series. Levy’s works from our past exhibition INCERTITUDES are now presented in his first solo exhibition SILENT FUTURES at Museum DKM, Duisburg until 31 January 2026.
