ON LIGHTNESS
STILL-LIFES by Patrizia Zelano and Tom Fecht. Guest-Installation by Takashi Arai
A Collaboration with PRIX PICTET during BERLIN ART WEEK 2026
THE GUEST ROOM Dresdener Str. 10 – 10999 Berlin (DE)
The Prix Pictet is the world’s leading photography award; the three artists first met as finalists at the award ceremony in the fall of 2025, during STORM, their joint exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The lightness of the unexpected encounter between Takashi Arai (Tokyo), Patrizia Zelano (Rimini) and Tom Fecht (Geneva) triggered immediate curiosity about each other’s artistic approach towards still-life photography and shaped this curatorial project in collaboration with Prix Pictet – ON LIGHTNESS naturally serving as its title.
While the STORM exhibition is still on a global tour until December 2027 this exhibition gives an intimate insight into one of photography’s blind spots. What is captured in these recent still-life studies is almost invisible to the naked eye. Zelano’s series “High Water in Venice” investigates the hidden beauty and boundary between dissolution and resistance. Arai’s ongoing series “Exposed in a Hundred Suns” revisits Hiroshima and Nagasaki exposing silvery Daguerreotypes by nuclear radiation. While Fecht’s “Luciferines” night series captures endangered bioluminescent plankton in the open Atlantic – Entre Chien et Loup.
